Evaluation

For my As moving image short film i created an animation about a gang of fish. I created it on flash and then exported it to I-movie, where i edited in foley sounds, dialogue, music and transitions.

I chose to sue i-movie for editing after i had created the film on flash as i was used to the i-movie program after using it in Media GCSE to create a short movie trailer.

I believe my film was successful in terms of content, i managed to fit in all the story and dialogue that i wanted aswell as making sure it wasnt to long. 

To a technical extent my film has worked. For example all the speech, music and foley sounds fit in with the animation which has been well constructed to give the scenes a clear precise feel. I feel that my creative vision was a bit 'blurred' as i kept changing ideas and plots, so in the end i believe that to a slight extent my creative vision was achieved as i changed my first idea to an idea that was easier to animate.

Audiences reacted the way i wanted them to, drawing a few laughs from them. The audience also found the movie clear and easy to understand. They related most to the character Donald (the whale) as they found his dopey and slow personality to be funny.

I have encountered a few problems while creating my animation, first i was taking to long to create the film, so i toned down the quality of the animation, the first 2-3 scenes have a lot of movement and interaction and more diverse facial expressions, from then onwards however i realized that i was running out of time so i simplified everything, this made the scenes feel more static but it did allow me to finish on time. Also when i was recording the voices, first time everything was done to loud so we had to record again.

I am going to create a short animation for my moving image AS. I will create the animation on macromedia flash. The animation is about a gang of fish who live under the sea and get into all sorts of trouble.

I am taking influence from south park because it doesn't use the best or most intricate animation but it still makes up for it with style of movement and interaction which is unrealistic, it is unrealistic because it does not use fully fleshed out movements, with only certain parts of the body moving. Im am also taking influence from south park's heavy use of dialogue over movement. I am taking influence from family guy and dig judo because i find the humour in those cartoons very funny. I am going to take the way they make random stuff that makes no sense seem ligitemate and funny.

The impact i attend to create with my target audience, which is young teenagers, is to make them laugh while also trying to put through some morales and life lessons.

I intend to achieve this by adding a humorous twist with Donald getting brain freeze from eating to much ice cream, yet teach the audience a lesson by having Percy almost die after taking drugs.

Synopsis.

My animation is going to be about a gang of fish. A whale called Donald, a piranha called Percy and an unnamed Clam. The 3 of them are hanging out and they get really hungry. An ice cream van drives past so they chase after it. When they catch up to Donald orders ice cream, but is challenged by Percy to order more, so he does, Percy then swims off after smelling something funny. Percy swims into a drug den and is convinced by the Evil fish called Mad Dawg to buy some see weed. The see weed makes Percy faint. Donald eats his ice cream and gets severe brain freeze and faints. The gang wake up in hospital to be greeted by Puff daddy the puffer fish who gives them a lesson on life and how to stay away from evil temptations.

Statement of intentions.

I am going to create a short animation for my moving image AS. I will create the animation on macromedia flash. The animation is about a man who lives on his own and collects coins. His favourite coin goes missing and he the animation is mainly going to be hi chasing after it. A bit like a baby bell advert.
